Question: I have been successfull with Honor Show Chow Products and am beginning to get a grasp on how to feed it. However it seems that my breeding gilts have a better grasp to my feeding program than my market hog prospects. We grind our own Showpig ration incorperating Powerfuel, ChampionDrive, rolled oats, and milk replacer; than topdress Powerfill ChampionDrive Powerfuel and paylean. What do suggest my plan of action should be for feeding market hogs this year, and I was also wondering if there were any new products honor show chow has in development?
Answer: John,
Thank you for your e-mail and for choosing HONOR Show Chow showpig products.
We do have an excellent line up of show supplements in our High Octane brand. We also have an excellent grind and mix program with our Showpig Base product. It is designed so that you can grind and mix diets for showpigs from 15 lbs up to show time.
It does not contain minerals or vitamins, so you can use as little or as much as you desire. A sow premix is necessary to supply the vitamins and minerals. This allows you to use anywhere from 500 lbs per ton for a nursery diet to 100 lbs per ton for a showpig diet (pig weighing 200 lbs plus).
You can find more information and example diets on our website honorshowchow.com
There is also information there on feeding markets hogs under the Feeding Strategies link. We have a brand new High Octane product called Fitter 35 which is extremely versatile. It can be used to help build muscle, help reduce body fat, and it is also a complete feed when zero weight gain is needed.
Thanks again,
