Question: I am feeding a duroc for Houston right now and have him on 1.5 pounds of powerfill and 1.5 pounds of beet pulp and he is still gaining too much. The paylean product that I use is very subtle so I introduce a minimal amount to the feed, now that I have done this can I come down on the powerfill?

I am assuming that when you say 1.5 lbs of Powerfill and 1.5 lbs beet pulp you mean twice per day. Pigs should not need that much beet pulp. Usually 1/2 lbs per day along with 3 lbs Powerfill per day will keep the pig full and gaining about 1 lbs per day.

If the pig is gaining more than 1 lbs per day, the Paylean is probably responsible. Paylean greatly increases growth rate. Also, make sure to weigh the Powerfill has more than 3 lbs per day will cause the pig to gain faster than 1 lbs per day.

I would not reduce the feed as much less than 3 lbs per day Powerfill by itself will cause the pig to lose muscle. Pigs have daily requirements for amino acids. Even with Paylean, if you do not meet those requirements, the pig will lose muscle.

If you desire less than 1 lbs per day and want to feed Paylean, I suggest feeding:
(TOTAL PER DAY; DIVIDED INTO TWO EQUAL FEEDINGS MORNING AND EVENING):
HSC Powerfill 2 lbs
High Octane Champion Drive 1 lbs
Beet pulp 1/2 lbs
High Octane Paylean 2 ounces
